About Us

The late Mr Colin Peacock began in the electrical industry back in the 1940s, mainly carrying out domestic installations. As time moved on two employees became partners when Mr Peacock was nearing retirement. We became ‘Limited’ in 1972 and then moved into other fields. From the outset we covered a wide variety of electrical work, ranging from small domestic jobs to large commercial and industrial installations.

Colin Peacock Ltd became approved by NICEIC in 1965, of which we are still a member holding our original enrolment number. 10 years later we became involved in carrying out installations on HVAC Control Equipment, which at the time were built and commissioned by others.

Following a large number of successful installations for Control Panels and equipment the company began its own controls section with support from leading control equipment manufacturers, such as ACL Drayton and Landis & Gyr.

Our clients mean everything to us. In order to sustain business and positive growth, our people are expertly trained to deliver the organisation’s core values of honesty, professionalism and passion.

The company’s commitment to training ensures that our workforce remain some of the best in the industry. We evaluate skills and provide appropriate training and support to guarantee success. A specific performance management process means we can then deliver fair appraisals.

A large percentage of the Control Panels, installations and commissioning were carried out in magistrates’ courts, police/fire stations, libraries and schools in and around Essex. We later became a certified approved installer for ‘York International’ Building Management Systems. This allowed us to be placed on a select list on a large number of installations carried out by WS Atkins, Essex County Council and various independent consultants and local borough councils. Today, we are still on that same select list.

Currently, the company’s activities include a small amount of domestic works, with the majority of the installation works being the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of controls equipment.

We carry out all varieties of electrical installations to domestic and commercial properties as follows:

  • Complete rewires
  • Additional power/light points
  • Emergency lighting
  • HVAC controls and commissioning
  • Electrical testing
  • Servicing and maintenance of ventilation plants
  • Servicing and maintenance to controls equipment

All our work is approved and certified by the NICEIC.

As a company our aim is to keep progressing and ensure our Controls Systems use the latest technology. As a result of this philosophy, we became an approved installer of a facility manager (FM) software package for York International. The first FM package we installed was at MDP Wethersfield, near Braintree in Essex. This contract over the years included the installation of 26 BMS Outstations to various buildings around the MDP site ranging from accommodation blocks to office plant rooms.

Our clients mean everything to us. In order to sustain business and positive growth, our people are expertly trained to deliver the organisation’s core values of honesty, professionalism and passion.

The FM package allows the user to interrogate each Outstation with the help of graphic screens, which simulate the operation of the plant along with ‘Live’ temperature readings and plant status. The software also allows each building’s time schedules and holidays to be entered individually and any plant faults, such as boiler lockout and pump trips, automatically trigger an audio/visual alarm message on the PC.

Over the years Colin Peacock Ltd has also installed several FM packages in various Sports Centres and Schools. The package we installed is a system for York International called RADAR (Remote Assistance Diagnostics And Response). The system comes complete with a PC housed in a small enclosure which is web based and accessed by any PC on the Network or ‘World Wide Web’ with password access. This allows the system to be monitored anywhere in the world. Once configured, the unit is also able to send alarms as emails to any service engineer or site managers.

At present we install controls from the following leading manufacturers:

  • Satchwell
  • Siemens (Landis & Staefa)
  • York International/Johnson Controls
  • Trend (Via a Trend Systems House)
  • PRIVA Building Intelligence

Our leading provider for Controls at present is PRIVA. We became a PRIVA installer in 2007 which we first installed within Offices and Schools for the ‘London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’.

We have since also introduced PRIVA within our day-to-day controls, purely based on the user friendliness of the Touch Screens and the products ability to suit all requirements.

We recently installed a large PRIVA BMS within the Chase High School, Westcliff-On-Sea for the new 6th Form Block. This system incorporates controls for energy metering and control of Air Handling Units and Air Source Heat Pumps using Modbus and M-bus interfacing.

We can design a complete controls system from details given of a scheme and we can recommend which control system would be best suited to a particular application.

All the installations are carried out by our own electrical installation team, which ensures a consistently high standard of work and hopefully further recommendation in the future.
